The secret to being an impressive photographer is the ability to put people at ease. Not everyone is comfortable having their picture taken so it crucial that the photographer lead the way. Making it fun is really the key, when people have a good time it shows in their faces.
Photographing children takes a special talent, one that comes easily to me. Having a natural sense of joy makes me extremely successful in capturing extraordinary once in a lifetime images of children. Kids are easily delighted, it is my job to bring that joy out of them. Getting down to their level, leading the way with happiness and being an outstanding photographer are the requirements in catching the magic of children on camera.
Pet Photography requires another layer of understanding. A love of animals is absolutely necessary, as well as the ability to understand what animals respond to. Getting the ears up, the jaw strong and catching that look of love in the eyes is what I am searching for when creating exceptional pet portraits.
Sports photography is a totally different ballgame. Understanding form is key in action shots because not all movement looks good in a still image. The rest is timing, speed of trigger and light. I love sports which helps tremendously and being a competitive person by nature I gravitate towards the heart of the action in the sport.
Architectural photography is a whole other set of rules where time of day and lens selection are it's secrets to success. That along with good composition with the ability to combine complimentary shapes are the skills that produce striking images.
Passion is what drives me and photography is what excites me. Searching for that perfect moment is thrilling and catching that image, literally taking control of it, is an incredible and exhilarating feeling. I truly love what I do. It gives me great satisfaction to photograph people, to catch their natural expressions and then to share those outstanding pictures with the client. It makes me feel really proud knowing that I am able to create imagery that people truly enjoy.
